Green Earth Montessori is led by Candace Swan, certified Nature Educator and Montana Master Naturalist. Candace is a Montana native, and along with her family of four children, has been learning and exploring with children in the Helena community for over 25 years.

Candace earned her degree in Elementary Education from Carroll College in 2003. Since then, she has developed several Early Learning programs in Helena (Creative Play- PreSchool & Summer Art and Adventure Camp, Green Arts Global Montessori & Green Earth Montessori Nature School). Her special training includes: Reggio Emilia (U of M Western), Montessori (UMA & MMTEI), Project WET, A Forest for Every Classroom and Project Learning Tree. She is a Project Learning Tree facilitator, and a certified Nature Educator through ERAFANS. Her education programs for young students have always been inspired by her love of nature and guiding children to experience learning through their hearts, hands and the beautiful world around us.

Our Nature Guides at Green Earth offer a wealth of combined expertise, including: degrees in Elementary Education, Biology, Spanish, Psychology, Art & Design. Our specialized training includes: Nature Educator Certification, Montessori, Biology & Ecology, Early Childhood Curriculum & Environments and Montana Master Naturalist certification, with direct teaching experience in the Public Schools, Head Start, licensed childcare and after school programs. We are all certified in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid and continue to expand our education through on-going teacher training, outdoor education, college course work and glorious life experiences!

“I’m convinced that when we help our children find ways of dealing with their feelings, ways that don’t hurt them or anyone else, we’re helping to make our world a safer, better place.”
